When our lives are threatened, it is not only our right but our duty to stand tall, proud, and unwavering. We should all rise fiercely to protect ourselves and each other against those who seek to do us harm.

After 20 years of living my life peacefully, I now feel a renewed sense of responsibility to stand up once more—not just for myself, but to shield and uplift others in our community who need protection. My husband and family stand proudly beside me and in front of me, fiercely protective and united in support for all LGBTQ+ people. I am truly grateful for the peace I have known, but I refuse to let fear, hatred, and ignorance dictate our future. It is time for those with great courage to become visible again and help others who need it more than ever…
